Lake Street Dive | Mission Ballroom | Denver, CO | June 2025 | Art Heffron Photograhy

I consider it a sweet moment anytime I get to photograph—and soak in—the magic that is the music of Lake Street Dive.

The first time I photographed one of their shows was years ago at Denver's Bluebird, then again at Rocky Mountain Folks Fest a few years later, and most recently this past spring at Mission Ballroom—where they shared the night with local heroes, sheroes, and they-ros in the band Dog Tags.

I was in town to photograph Dog Tags opening set at Mission and was lucky enough to get the green light from LSD to cover their set as well. I even had a midnight run-in with the Lake Street crew at DIA as we all landed the night before at the same time. I said a quick howdy, complimented their choice of local opener (Dog Tags), reminisced about photographing their past sets… then wished them a good show and headed for my train.

Fast-forward 24 hours: their time on stage had all 8,000 folks at Mission Ballroom singing and dancing along. From their jazzed-up take on Rich Girl to the emotional depths of I Can Change, and every note in between, their performance was layered with joy, soul, and harmonic peace.

Hope you enjoyed these frames and moments from last May as I danced—photographically and wholeheartedly—with the light, rhythm, and spirit of Lake Street Dive, and don't forget to get up with both them and Dog Tag as they both continue share their healing vibes their music.

... and come say hi if you're back in Denver on December 5th, my old concert series Strings & Wood Concerts will be one of the presenters as Dog Tag she's their Roseworld Album Release Experience at the Bluebird Theater. Tix
